The Far Peaks Consulting Vision:
Helping you pick the mountain, helping you summit
About the Book
YOU ARE A LEADER. YOU ARE IN CHARGE
How do you allocate your two most important resources—your time and your attention—in an organized and consistent manner?
WHAT DO YOU DELEGATE? WHAT DON’T YOU DELEGATE? EVERYTHING? NOTHING? WHAT?
There are seven roles that you cannot delegate — the roles or responsibilities that only the leader can own.
THE SEVEN NON-DELEGABLES OF LEADERSHIP
This book makes the non-delegable roles of the leader explicit, organized, and connected, and explains how to properly execute them.
SENSING—How do you develop a clear strategic picture of today’s reality?
VISIONING—How do you craft a path to a desirable tomorrow?
ACCULTURATION—How do you mold the organizational and individual behaviors necessary to achieve the vision?
ENABLING—How do you ensure your team has the tools to achieve the vision?
DECIDING—How do you make decisions that achieve the vision and are consistent with the culture?
EMBRACING RESPONSIBILITY—How do you establish ownership?
MENTORING—How do you find and teach the next generation of leaders?
How do we do it – our philosophy
Pronouns matter – we use “we” a lot!
We’re roped together – in success and failure
We don’t do the obvious or the easy
We take responsibility for our actions.
Why should we work together? WIFY - What's in it for you?
We are pragmatic – we are neither academics nor theoreticians.
We have a lifetime of leadership experience in for-profits, not-for-profits and government.
We get results.
What’s with the Logo?
As lifelong hiker and skier, I appreciate the importance of guides.
First, they will help you decide where you want to go. A guide, using their experience and knowledge, will help you decide what you want to accomplish – the mountain you want to climb.. Their wisdom will help you discern which is the right mountain to climb, not the closest or the easiest.
Second, a guide will help you get there. They will not and should not carry you – but they will walk alongside you – not in front of you or in back of you. They will take joint responsibility to get you to the top.
In the logo, you will see three mountains, and you will see a pathway between them. As your guide, it’s our responsibility to help you pick the mountain, and then help you summit.
